About Talia Sher (Green)
I have been drawing and painting ever since I remember myself as a child. My artwork was highly appreciated by my Art Teacher at the elementary school. During my studies at the high school I took some Art classes and considered a professional career in Art. Eventually, I chose the academic pathway and earned my Ph.D. degree in Biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel. During my academic studies I took one year off inbetween the B.Sc. and M.Sc. studies and dedicated it to intensive Art studies in the Plastic Art institute in Bat-Yam. Among the distinguished teachers can be pointed out the late Mr. Aba Fenikel for drawing and Mr. Elyahoo Gat for painting.
Following receiving my Ph.D. degree in Biology I worked as a senior researcher in the Biological Institute in Ness-Ziona and later on at the Lautenberg Immunology Institute at Hadassah Hospital, Ein Kerem, Jerusalem, in the field of cancer research. The next stage was a four year cancer research at the National Cancer Institutes at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA. Upon returning to Israel I took a senior high-tech management class in Bar-Ilan University. Later on, I studied Naturopahy (complementary medicine) for four years at the Michlala Leminhal, Tel Aviv. These two pathways led me to two parallel occupations. During a two year period I led a start-up company, ArioMedica Ltd., at the Rad BioMed accelerator (technological incubator). The goal of this company was to develop a patent of my husband, Arieh Sher, a device for opening blocked peripheral arteries. In spite of proving the feasibility of the technology we haven’t succeeded to raise a suitable fund to proceed with the R&D program.
In parallel, I have been working as a Naturopath focusing on mind-body treatment, healing, treatment by reincarnation and nutrition consultation. I have been teaching Naturopathy for several years in “Hamichlala Lminchal” and “Seminar Hakibitzim”, worked in Shiram, the complementary medical unit at Hassaf-Harofe Hospital and at my private clinic. During the years, I have joined several painting classes, the most significant of them was a workshop directed by Chava Roucher, at the Public Art House in Rehovot. In the end of 2010 I have returned to painting intensively at the workshop of Alex Cherkov. In 2013 I joined also the workshop of Bruria Hasner. I paint on linen with oil colors.
In spite of the long period in which I focused on other activities, I have returned to paintings with a lot of motivation, enthusiasm and creativity and the outcome fulfills me with a lot of happiness and satisfaction. I had two You are kindly invited to take a look at my Artwork in my website.
